Engraved and Thermographed Wedding Invitations
The most beautiful and detailed invitation is achieved by engraving; working from hand engraved steel dies and copperplates. Ink colours and details are more true with engraving than with any other form of printing. Just about any kind of paper can be used and metallic inks sparkle as if they are real. It is the royalty of the printing world.
However, while engraving is unrivalled for quality work, thermography, if done with care and skill, can be a very good alternative. The same raised type that comes from engaving is achieved by sprinkling a special Piccolo Press matt resin on the printed sheet while the sheet is still wet and then heated where the resin fuses with the ink and raises the printed matter above the paper surface.
